SWITCHING AND DISCHARGING
Our power capacitors are designed to withstand high surge currents manifold their rated current.
Even so, repetitive high inrush currents may damage capacitors and should therefore be avoided by
A. suppressing switching currents by the use of special capacitor contactors,
see pages 40 to 42.
B. eliminating inrush currents by the use of suitable thyristor switches,
see pages 43 to 46.
C. avoiding re-connection in phase opposition by the use of proper discharge
resistors or reactors, see pages 47 to 51.
